Erika Girardi Reveals Husband Tom's Philosophy on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Drama
The RHOBH cast member breaks down Paul "PK" Kemsley's talk with Aaron Phypers.
Denise Richards' husband, Aaron Phypers, hasn't had the most pleasant interactions with his wife's friends in the past few episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season. So, Dorit Kemsley thought she would ask someone who knows all too well what it's like to be a husband who gets involved in RHOBH drama, her own hubby, Paul "PK" Kemsley, to have a chat with Aaron.
"I come with a little bit of knowledge and experience in these situations. I've also been through where my husband has gotten involved, and it's not a good idea," Dorit said of PK's past conflict with some of the RHOBH ladies during The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, which you can check out, above. "I have learned that, and I think PK tried to pull Aaron aside when he had seen him to tell him, like, 'I understand you want to protect your wife, but these ladies have it.'"
And that's exactly what PK said when he spoke to Aaron at Kyle Richards' fundraiser for Children's Hospital Los Angeles in the July 15 episode of RHOBH. "These girls are tough, independent, and you don't want to get into it with each of them," PK explained. "You just want to support your wife."
Though Aaron said he agreed with what he was saying, PK later said in an interview during the episode that he wasn't sure how receptive his fellow RHOBH husband was to his advice. "I get the feeling that my input isn't necessarily wanted," PK said. "He didn't really appreciate my brilliance."
Dorit said during the RHOBH After Show that Aaron really should have learned from PK's mistakes. "You have to kind of take a step back. He was speaking from experience. I think as far as the dynamic — and it depends what kind of marriage you have — but I think support your wife but from the sidelines," Dorit said. "It doesn't go well when the husband gets involved and gets into it with the ladies. It doesn't look right, and it doesn't look good."
Erika Girardi, who has experienced her fair share of drama with both PK and Aaron, agreed. "You could have the best intentions, it still just falls flat. It just doesn't look good," she said in the RHOBH After Show. "And believe me, I understand wanting a friend and needing a friend and wanting support, all of that. We've all felt at times on the outs. At the same time you're gonna have to dig down deep and lean into that conversation."
Not only has Kyle said that she "would not be happy" if her husband, Mauricio Umansky, got into it with any of her fellow Beverly Hills Housewives, but she also said in the RHOBH After Show that her hubby would never even have any interest in doing so. "To me, it doesn't really sit well when a husband chimes in in the group. My husband didn't even want to be at my picnic at my house. He got tickets to a USC game and he was like, 'Bye!' I was like, 'Are you kidding me?' Like, last minute," Kyle recalled. "I just don't like when the men get involved, but other than that, I was like, whatever."
Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave said in the RHOBH After Show that she was also confused by Aaron's behavior at Kyle's barbecue, especially considering the fact that her husband, Edwin Arroyave, also wasn't part of the conversation with the ladies. "It was just another one of those things, like what's your intention here? Are you defending your wife?" Teddi said. "I mean, you saw my husband, he's off playing with my kids near the bouncey house. He's there to support me in that way, but honestly, if Edwin started doing that to the girls, I would be mortified."
You'll never find Erika's husband, Tom Girardi, interacting with the Beverly Hills Housewives like that, either. "Don't bother Tom with the bulls--t," Erika said of her husband's philosophy to all the RHOBH drama. "Don't want to be involved, doesn't have the time, worried about his own stuff."
Erika said that Tom leaves her to fight her own battles. "Work it out. You're smart. The end. Or not. Or fail. Just work it out," she said. "That's the way it goes down around here."
