Fredrik Eklund Credits This Recent Addition with Keeping Things Sexy with Hubby Derek Kaplan
Find out why the #MDLNY couple's life is a bit like "a love novel."
We should all be so lucky to find a love as strong as that between Fredrik Eklund and his husband Derek Kaplan. "It's very strange, and it's not like we have every single moment is, like, fireworks. But I look at him, and it's true. And when I talk about him, when I think about him, I get this thing in my stomach," Fredrik recently gushed to The Daily Dish. "We went to dinner last night, we were drinking wine, and I was looking at him in, like, profile, his blond hair and his face, he's so freakin' handsome, like an angel. Is that weird? After seven years, that's pretty amazing. I hope he does feel the same way."
So when we asked Fredrik for his one pet peeve when it comes to Derek, you might not be so surprised to learn that he didn't really have one. But he did have this to say: "He's a little clueless sometimes, but it's really cute. Like today, I said we're gonna be on The Today Show this morning, and then one hour after we've been on, he's like, 'What was it? Good Morning America?' So he missed it," Fredrik shared. "So he's a bit clueless like that, with all of this, which I actually like."
Now that we know that there's really nothing Fredrik doesn't absolutely love about Derek, he was kind enough to spill the secret to his happy marriage. "I think I've been very lucky with him. The Connecticut house has been very good, very, very good. I think that we travel a lot too, which maybe not everybody can do as much as we do. But that's really important for us," he said. "I think if you wake up every morning, same bathroom, same toothbrush, same coffee, you know, it's good to switch it up. So what I mean with Connecticut, it's very sexy to me. It's very romantic to me to see him grill in shorts. Then I see him paint in the garage. Then we go, like, last night we're in Tribeca in an Italian restaurant having wine. And then we're gonna go to Sweden. It's very exciting to me. It's like a love novel. I'm a romantic in my head."
And in case you were wondering how life in that stunning 5,144-square-foot Georgian-style mansion has been, Fredrik said that he and Derek have been having an "amazing" summer, especially with their beloved houseguests. "Actually, his parents are here right now staying with us, and my family's been here," he said. "It's been great. We really bought the house for our families to come and enjoy."
Fredrik and Derek will be doing more jetsetting to Paris in the MDLNY Season 6 finale on Thursday at 9/8c. Watch a sneak peek of Fredrik catching up with an old friend, below.
