'Gallery Girls' Meet 'GirlHattan' Gals Rachel and Joanna
It's a clash of New York socialites that you won't be able to forget.
What happens when you schedule a brunch between three stars of Gallery Girls and two, um, kinda-sorta reality satire stars? Lots of hilariousness and lots of awkward moments -- that's what.
The trio of Bravo's Gallery Girls for this meeting included Amy Poliakoff, Angela Pham and Liz Margulies, and their brunch guests were "Rachel" and "Joanna" of viral parody GirlHattan fame. In case you're not familiar with them, click here -- or just take our word for it: They're brutally funny and offensive in the most endearing way. You'll see that in the video below, and just in case that wasn't enough, we were able to chat with Rachel and Joanna to get their impressions of the Gallery Girls. Buckle up.
When asked who their favorite GG is, it was a quick, unanimous answer, though Rachel went into detail. "I'd say we probably love Amy the most. We've been trying to call Amy desperately, though we think she gave us a fake number because we're getting a weird guy in Queens. Our love for them is not the same as their love for us," he/she said.
And given the affection for Amy, what would Rachel say to her? "I would love to tell her that she should follow her dreams like Matt LeBlanc in the early '90s. He probably thought he'd never make it, and now look at how beautiful and rich and famous he is ... And to get some chunky lowlights."
As for how their New York City differs from that of the Gallery Girls, the divide was quite clear.
"I'd say ours is different because we kill it 24/7 and they kill it more 9-5," Rachel said. "And also, I wouldn't hang out at the places they do. I'd never hang out at End of Century because I like to hang out in Midtown. I like to be eating sushi as close to Penn Station as possible. That's my New York. I didn't see one shot where they're in Times Square and every day, like clockwork, Joanna and I go to Times Square and get a caricature of us done.
What's Joanna's definition of a Gallery Girl? "I guess if you're into art and stuff, you have to be friends with artists. You have to know Van Gogh, and I'm assuming they all do. And if you break down Gallery, the first word comes from gala, so you have to be a party girl, which is why we connect to them. We're like super into entertainment and one time we did shots with Tara Reid, so you need to be immersed in that world. And also you need to have huge dreams and do whatever it takes to get to the top ... a true gallery girl would murder someone to get to the top."
Then came word association for the Girls. Here's how it played out from both Joanna and Rachel:
Amy: "Gorg and/or inspirational. How about hero?"
Liz: "Determined. Power -- not scared. Fierce."
Angela: "Photographer"
Chantal: "She's the Abraham Lincoln of the Lower East Side."
Kerri: "Beautiful"
Maggie: "Quiet -- she's so cute. I'd love to take her on vacation."
