Garcelle Beauvais Has Told Her Sons How to Interact with the Police
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mother recalled a situation where she was recently pulled over while her 12-year-old son was in the car.
Garcelle Beauvais is a mother to three sons; Oliver, 29, and 12-year-old twins, Jax and Jaid. During an interview with the New York Post, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newcomer explained the conversations she has with her children about interacting with the police.
Garcelle said she was pulled over a few months ago for making an illegal right turn while Jax happened to be in the car.
“I’m so grateful that he was in the backseat, because he got to see my interaction,” she explained. “He got to see that my hands were at the wheel. He actually heard me say, ‘I’m reaching for my wallet.’ The fact that I have to say, ‘I’m reaching for my wallet now’—if I was with [a white girlfriend] and she was driving, she wouldn’t think to do that.”
On June 6, Garcelle attended a peaceful protest in support of the Black Lives Matter movement with her sons. While she is making a point to teach her sons about racial justice, it seems as though Garcelle continues to be inspired by her family. On June 4, she proudly shared a sweet message about her adorable grandson, Oliver Junior, in an Instagram post explaining how he had already impacted her life in just a few months.
“One of the reasons we are fighting for equality #mygrandson #oliverjunior,” Garcelle wrote. “I want him to have every opportunity he deserves.”
Garcelle has also urged her followers to take action and speak out against injustice.
“I want everybody to speak up,” she said in a call to action shared to Instagram on May 29. “I want everybody to say something about what’s going on, whether it’s affecting you directly or not. Let’s get back to humanity and help one another out. That’s all I got.”
