While most folks take the summer to slow down and perhaps catch up some reading at the beach, Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley's season will be all about making their dream of starting a family together come true as they continue on their journey with IVF.
“We’re focused on having a baby. That’s our summer plans," she recently told Us Weekly, adding just how "hard" undergoing IVF has been. "It’s a very arduous, hard thing to go through. I’m so thankful I have an amazing partner to go through it with. We are pushing through it, and hopefully we will have an announcement that we are pregnant.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County alum shared back in April she had plans to undergo a second round of IVF. That news was followed by a surgery in May. And, Slade has nothing but "huge props" for his fiancée: "It is such a hard, difficult process. A lot of the burden falls on the woman going through the IVF process, and not only has she embraced that challenge but she’s using that to be an advocate for other women who are struggling with IVF and can’t get pregnant. I’m so impressed how she jumped right in [and] became a voice for every woman. I’m very proud of her.”
The couple notes they will make some time for travel this season, with stops in Greece and Texas, but their focus is on this IVF process. She added, “Truthfully it’s a partnership. We have an amazing doctor, and that makes a difference. It’s a very confusing, hard, difficult process. It takes a lot of good people around you.”
