Hannah Ferrier Spills All the Details on Her Mystery Boyfriend: "He's Very Private"

The Below Deck Med chief stew talks marriage and starting a family with her partner, Josh.

By Laura Rosenfeld

Hannah Ferrier came into this season of Below Deck Mediterranean with a new special someone in her life: Her boyfriend, Josh, and things sounded quite serious for the couple, who had been together for about a year at that point.

"So in between charter seasons, I went home to Australia, I met someone," Hannah revealed in an interview during the Season 5 premiere. "And this is definitely the first relationship that I actually see some longevity and potentially getting married and making babies and having a family."

Hannah and Josh did just that. The Below Deck Med chief stew announced that she and her boyfriend are expecting their first child this October. "I think I had far more fun telling my partner," Hannah said of her pregnancy news during an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish in late May. "He's over the moon. He's so excited."

Even though Hannah has lived her life out loud since Season 1 of Below Deck Med, her relationship is one area she has decided to keep out of the public eye. Hannah has rarely spoken about her partner on social media and has never posted a photo of him.

However, Hannah did recount how she and Josh first met during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home on June 22. "We actually met in a bar in Sydney the day after I landed after filming Season 4," she recalled. "We kind of both flirted with each other, but I did let him know I just finished filming, so I was at 50 percent of my normal capability. So I'm surprised that alone didn't scare him off [laughs]."

Hannah also revealed that Josh is more of "a land guy" than "a sea guy," but he has seen a couple of episodes of the first season of Below Deck Med, although he didn't immediately recognize that she was the show's chief stew. Hannah also confirmed that Josh is "a million percent" better kisser than her Season 3 flame Conrad Empson, in case you were wondering.

We were able to pry a few more details out of the Below Deck Med chief stew about her mysterious boyfriend during an interview exclusively for Bravo Insider members. Josh is originally from Scotland but now works in commercial real estate in Sydney, Australia and prefers to keep more of a low profile than his celebrity significant other. "He’s very private, he hates social media, so, that’s definitely something that I respect. It’s probably for the best. Like, I don’t think I could date someone that was fascinated with their Instagram and taking selfies and stuff," Hannah said, adding that she is also protective of her loved ones when it comes to posting about them on social media. "He’s just very low-key."

Having a long distance relationship during this most recent charter season wasn't too challenging for Hannah and Josh, who have spent time apart from one another in the past. But having a partner definitely made this season of Below Deck Med different for Hannah. "It was very difficult dealing with the pressures of doing a charter season and filming without having him there to be able to support me," she shared. "Knowing that I had someone I was that close to that wasn’t there and that couldn’t help me when I was really upset, that was difficult."

Hannah said that she and Josh have "definitely" talked about marriage, although she recently clarified that the ring on her finger in a photo of her baby bump on Instagram was not an engagement ring.

For now, Hannah and Josh are just focused on their family. "At the moment, the priority’s the baby, and I’m not extremely traditional like that. A lot of people are married and miserable and a lot of people are in a relationship and not married and very happy," she explained. "So, that doesn’t really bother me when we get married."

What's important to Hannah is knowing that she and Josh are embarking on a beautiful life together. "I think it’s just nice when you’re with someone and you’re secure enough that you know that’s where it’s going," Hannah said of the possibility of marrying Josh in the future. "So you are quite comfortable with taking your time."
