Heather Altman Makes a Stunning Declaration About Her Marriage to Josh Altman: "It's Tough"

The MDLLA couple opens up about working through a "difficult" time in their marriage.

Marriage takes work. This can be hard on the best of days, but is even tougher when you're simultaneously parenting and running a grandiose real estate operation. Heather Altman and Josh Altman can attest.

How to Watch

During Season 15, Episode 7 of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, fans saw a glimpse into a tough time in Josh and Heather's relationship when they had a disagreement at home. Midway through the chat, Heather shared some pretty big insight into her marriage in a confessional.

"The last time I ever felt like this with Josh is probably when we were planning our first wedding. And then we cancelled that one, because he wasn't listening to me," she said. "He was one-track [minded], only listening to himself. We're kind of doing that same thing, and I want to figure out a way to stop it before it becomes really difficult for us to repair."

An example? After Josh joked that he was going to stay the night in Laguna ahead of a morning listing appointment, Heather made it clear that she wouldn't be thrilled.

"You're in and out. You're there to do business. You've got two kids at home and a wife that's gonna go crazy," she said. After Josh's phone rang, he knew the right thing to do was put off the call so they could further discuss their business and marital logistics.

"We have a lot to go over, babe," said Heather while holding up a stack of paper calendars. "These calendars are problematic. I have to track where you are to participate in different things of our lives. And I think you'd like to know when things are going on with your children, right? So how do I communicate with a piece of paper that's sitting in our bedroom or sitting in your office in the top drawer that no one has access to?"

In a confessional, Heather shared more about her gripe. "Josh is, like, running a billion dollar company. And that is how he schedules his life," she said. "I don't get it."

Josh shared his perspective in a separate interview.

"Heather is pissed at me, because on top of everything that we have going on in L.A., Orange County, the office, the business, I've now taken on this property in Encino," he said. "But don't take it out on the calendar. What did the calendar do? It's just trying to be a calendar."

The good news? Heather has a potential solution in the form of a digital touch-screen calendar they can both have access to. "So, today, I'm going to add 'Yell at Josh,'" she explained. "I'd like you to try it, but you're going to have to start inputting your calendar."

Josh was hesitant, telling Heather, "I'm not inputting sh-t. Your assistant will take [the paper calendar] and input it."

Heather wasn't satisfied.

"Do you know how to text? Do you know how to send an email?" she asked her husband. After he replied "Yes" to both, she asked him, "What the f-ck is the difference with emailing it to the calendar?" At last, he said he was willing to try.

"At this point in my life I'm not nearly as busy as my wife," he explained. "People don't realize that Heather has more on her plate than I do, so I actually feel really bad. I can't do the stuff she does, but I try. I'm not the greatest."

Heather Altman opened up to Tracy Tutor about her relationship

Later in the episode, Heather and Josh joined Tracy Tutor and Josh Flagg for dinner. After Tracy asked what was new with the Altmans, Heather got into it all.

"It's been tough," she admitted. "There's been lots of difficulties with work and kids. But then I've got a husband who's like, 'We need to go here, and I need you to show up to this listing appointment down in Newport. And then I need you in San Diego. And I need you in Arizona and I need you in Miami. And check this.' Which is okay — I love being a part of all of that — but then I have to sacrifice some things."

"It's tough on the marriage and it's tough on the kids," she added in a confessional. "But Josh isn't going to stop until he proves to everyone that he's number one. Which is what I love most about him, but it also may kill me at the same time."

Where do Josh Altman and Heather Altman stand today?

After working through the challenges, Josh and Heather are in a better place today.

In a June interview with The Daily Dish, Heather shared, "It finally took over me, and I had a moment, a big realization of, ‘Hey we can’t keep going at the rate that we’re going. It’s not physically possible and it’s not fun anymore, and I want to enjoy life.'"

"So we had an epiphany and had a good heart-to-heart, and we’re on the same page now [that] we’ve grown this company to where we want it right now," she continued. "We don’t need to be opening more offices, and we also don’t need to be collecting more real estate at the moment [where] I need to manage construction sites."
