This Is How Kandi Burruss Came Up with Her Baby Girl’s Unique Name

The Real Housewives of Atlanta baby could have shared a name with another celebrity baby.

In last night's episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker's son Ace Wells Tucker told Married to Medicine's Dr. Jackie Walters that he likes "Blaze" as a name for his baby sister. And as Kandi noted in The Real Housewives of Atlanta Speak On it special delivery video below, she's happy the episode aired two days after her daughter Blaze Tucker was born via surrogate on Friday, November 22.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Peacock and the Bravo App.

"Let me tell you a funny story about Blaze's name," Kandi said in the video. "So Blaze, we [were] back and forth between two different names. For the longest, we've been saying Banks or Blaze. Now Banks came from, that was the name we ended up not using for Ace. I thought it was kind of like a boy's name but people said it still could have been cute as a girl. So we had Banks and we had Blaze and we had everybody voting for it. Blaze won by just a couple of votes — and when I say 'everybody,' I mean friends, family, whatever.'"

And actually, Kandi wasn't sold on the name until very recently — but she's now glad she went with Blaze. "I was back and forth on, 'Well, maybe we should still name her Banks,' and just yesterday, Tay TV on Instagram, she sent me the post that Hilary Duff posted the other day and Hilary Duff just had a baby girl and named her Banks. So could you imagine if she had had her baby yesterday and we had our baby today and named her Banks, everybody would have sworn we took that name from Hilary Duff."

Kandi wants to be clear she wouldn't have been copying Hilary as they were mulling the name for months, but we think it's worth pointing out that Hilary Duff's daughter was actually born in October 2018. So, she still would have had the name first. (Sorry, Kandi!)

But someone else in Kandi's orbit also had the name Blaze first: Cynthia Bailey's ex-husband Peter Thomas' daughter. The more you know!

Ultimately, Kandi is happy they went with Blaze as Ace was "pushing" for that name — although big sister Riley Burruss was not. Well, you can't please everyone!
