Kyle Richards Reveals What She Told Her "So Unbelievable" Daughters After Mauricio Split News Broke
During The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, Kyle Richards revealed the "most important" part of that conversation.
On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 finale, Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky hosted another iteration of their famous White Party, but, behind the scenes, the spouses were quietly separating.
In July 2023, news broke that Mauricio and Kyle had parted ways after 27 years of marriage. Kyle confirmed the separation about three months later, but the two have continued to live under the same roof.
After the news first broke, Kyle sat down with her husband and their four daughters, Farrah Brittany Aldjufrie, Alexia Umansky, Sophia Umansky, and Portia Umansky, at their Encino home to discuss the reports.

Before the Umanskys met in Kyle and Mauricio's living room, the RHOBH O.G. shared some insight into the day that the report broke about her separation.
"I saw Alexia start to cry," she explained in an interview on the episode. "We got in the car, all of us, and it was this weird, like nobody knew what to do or say. It just felt like my whole life was over in that moment. The life as I knew it."
One week after the story first broke, Kyle sat down with Mauricio and their four daughters.
"I think the most important thing is just for you guys to know we haven't told you guys everything because we tried to protect you," Mauricio told the girls. "And then, all of a sudden, you kind of get blindsided by this public news, and you don't know about it, and that's probably difficult."
"We haven't talked about a divorce," Kyle said, before noting that the family has dealt with a lot of rumors in the past before.
"All of those other times, they were just rumors that came out of nowhere," Sophia said. "This time, we all know you guys aren't having the best year, so it kind of hit a little different and then everyone reaching out just made it that much more overwhelming."
Alexia went on to ask her parents if they had a "plan" for moving forward in their relationship.
Kyle said that, because she and Mau are "so busy working," they will continue to live under the same roof and take "space while working through [their] stuff."
Though Kyle wanted to keep living in the same home, Mauricio said that would "not necessarily" be the case.
"I don't want to leave, and I don't want Dad to leave, so we're doing this while we're under the same roof," she continued. "So that's been the plan, and if that's not effective or not working, then we'll go to the next step... If it is working, then great."
Kyle went on to praise her family members for their strength. "We're not broken, just bent," Kyle said. "We're a very strong family, and we always will be. Always will be."
Kyle Richards Reflects on Her Family Meeting
During the The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, Kyle looked back on that emotional conversation with her loved ones.
"After that article came out, I really had to have a conversation with my daughters — well Mau and I had to have a conversation with our daughters.," she said while sitting alongside castmate Erika Jayne. "I just wanted them to know that we are a family no matter what, and I do believe that regardless of whatever happens with Mauricio and my marriage that we will be a family no matter what. We're such a solid, strong family regardless of the issues that have happened in our marriage. To me, that was the most important thing was to convey that to them."
Kyle felt disappointed by her separation because she had considered her marriage to be her "biggest accomplishment." Erika explained that her separation was not indicative of any sort of failure.
"You had a successful marriage, a very successful marriage, however it goes," Erika said. "You didn't let anybody down. You really didn't. You really didn't."
During this difficult time, the RHUGT alum has been leaning on her daughters.
"I have to say that my daughters are just so unbelievable. I've always been so close to them, but even going through this with them, they've been so unbelievable and they have so much wisdom, and they're so supportive and loving and strong," Kyle concluded. "And that gives me a lot of strength. Now it's my turn to lean on them."
