How Padma Lakshmi Is Helping Fight Endometriosis
The 'Top Chef' judge will host the Seventh Annual Blossom Ball—get the details!
Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi has always been open about her struggle endometriosis. And now she's lending her name to the cause as the host of the The Endometriosis Foundation of America's Seventh Annual Blossom Ball.
The event will take place on April 13 in NYC at Cipriani's. The gala event will include a cocktail reception and dinner and as befits the Top Chef star, the menu will be created by the one and only Padma.
"I am so thrilled to see this foundation grow over the last few years and to be hosting yet another Blossom Ball to promote awareness and research for a condition very close to my heart," Padma, who co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America, said in a statement.
And she's not the only Bravoleb involved in the event. watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen as well as Top Chef judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons are member's of this year's Honorary Committee, Yahoo reports. Aziz Ansari, Tyra Banks, Danielle Brooks, Lena Dunham, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Deborah Harry, Anjelica Huston, Emeril Lagasse, Debi Mazar and Bridget Moynahan are also on the comittee.
Earlier this month Padma opened up about her battle with endometriosis and the EFA's recent launch of its ENPOWR Project. "I wanted to raise awareness so that no young girl has to wonder what is wrong with her like I did for so many years," she told People, noting that her 5-year-old daughter, Krishna, is also helping out the foundation.
"She was separating the coins from her piggybank and she said, 'Mommy, you can have my money for your charity,'" Padma said. "She knows that Mom has a charity for women with 'tummy aches.' She wants to help.'"
