Jeff Lewis Shares an Update on Plans for Baby No.2 Following His Breakup with Gage Edward
The former Flipping Out couple planned to give daughter Monroe a sibling prior to their separation.
Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward may have ended their relationship, but that doesn't mean the Flipping Out designer will be giving up on his dream to continue to grow his family.
Jeff shared on his Radio Andy show Jeff Lewis Live on Tuesday, February 12 that he's still hoping to give 2-year-old daughter Monroe a sibling, no matter where he stands with Gage in the future. “Within the next year, with or without Gage, I’m going to pursue having another child,” Jeff said, as reported by PEOPLE. “I think Monroe needs another sibling.”
The former partners welcomed Monroe in October 2016. A year later, Jeff revealed on his radio show that he and Gage still had five frozen embryos. After using Jeff's embryo to conceive Monroe, the then-couple planned to use Gage's embryo to have a boy. Since then, Jeff and Gage haven't publicly discussed the status of their baby plans.
Jeff said on his radio show on Tuesday that he now feels more empowered to raise a family on his own. “I do want to have another child for Monroe. Not just for Monroe, but for me,” he shared. “Because I always thought that I would never, ever do it if I didn’t have a partner. But I think I can. I need to hire a few more nannies.”
As for those embryos, well, Jeff joked that he would be moving forward with using them, too. “I was wondering if [Gage] doesn’t mind if I use his embryo,” he said with a laugh. “I’m going to use his embryo and then I’m going to ask for child support.”
Jeff has previously said that he didn't "even want to go there" when asked about the custody arrangement for Monroe following the news of his separation with Gage. However, Jeff made it clear that Gage is "a great dad," and he will always be able to see their daughter, no matter what. "If there's bumps in the road, and there could be, and this could get a little contentious, I just want to vow that I will never use our baby as a weapon. And I thought about it this morning, if there is some judge that says, 'OK, Gage, you get the baby Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,' I am making a vow that even though some judge stipulates when he can see the baby, he can see the baby whenever he wants to see the baby. And I don't care what any judge says," Jeff shared on Jeff Lewis Live on February 5. "He needs to know that, that he has 24-hour access."
