How Jennifer Aydin Upgraded to a 9-Carat Canary Yellow Diamond Engagement Ring

When Bravo fans first met Jennifer Aydin in Season 9 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, we quickly learned she had a strong appreciation for the finer things in life. That appreciation included a massive engagement ring and diamond wedding ring, which she wore on her left ring finger.
Fast forward to Season 11, and Jennifer upgraded her marriage bling even further when her husband, Bill Aydin, gifted her a 9-carat canary yellow diamond for their 18th anniversary.
That ring truly deserves a moment in the spotlight.
Why did Jennifer Aydin get a new, larger engagement ring from her husband Bill?
Jennifer and Bill celebrated their 18th anniversary with a lavish dinner at home in the company of three of their four children, which was shown in Season 11 Episode 13 of RHONJ in May 2021. During the dinner, Bill surprised Jennifer by upgrading her engagement ring with a jaw-dropping 9-carat canary yellow diamond ring.
Not only did the ring have a dazzling center stone, it was also surrounded by a diamond halo and a diamond-studded triple-shank.
"Small present," Bill joked as he presented his wife with the gift. "Half a carat per year."
"No f-cking way," Jennifer gasped as her husband opened the ring box. "I've always wanted a yellow diamond."
Jennifer Aydin's Previous Engagement Ring
Jennifer's previous engagement ring was nothing to sneeze at.
Before she got her yellow diamond ring, Jennifer wore a large, square-shaped diamond on her left finger. The main stone was also set in a diamond halo and had another diamond on each side. She paired it with a pave wedding ring with large diamonds.
Bill Aydin didn't give Jennifer an engagement ring when he proposed
"Olivia, do you know that [your dad] never asked me to marry him?" Jennifer shared with her youngest daughter in Season 11, Episode 13.
"So the custom is the elder in the family — not the boy — asks," Bill explained. Instead, the couple had a "promise of an engagement party," in which Bill gifted Jennifer with a cross.
"I was a broke medical student. You think I had the money to save for a ring?" Bill said.
In fact, Jennifer didn't get her engagement ring until shortly before their wedding in 2002.
"I actually didn’t get the ring until just a few months before my wedding day," she once explained on Instagram. "But when people would ask 'Where’s your ring?' Bill would simply answer, 'My dad's a jewelry, her dad's a jeweler, it’s not the most important thing — we are!'"
How Jennifer Aydin lost — and found — her yellow diamond
In May 2022, Jennifer celebrated her 45th birthday with a very fancy party at The Venetian in Garfield, New Jersey. However, when she got home later that night, she had quite a scare.
“Alright guys, so last night, I got home and I’m taking some pictures, and what do I notice? My 9-carat yellow diamond is gone,” Jennifer explained in a series of Instagram videos the day after the party. “On my way to the Venetian to look for my stone! Praying to St. Anthony,” she captioned the May 8 post.
Luckily, Jennifer was able to recover the stone after a thorough search of the venue. “We found my diamond that fell out last night at my party!" she wrote, adding, "Came back to the Venetian this morning and it was on the floor — right smack in the middle of the dance floor!!!”
