Below Deck Med's Jessica More Shares What It Was Really Like to Work with Her "Painful" Injury

The third stew fractured her finger following the third charter of Season 5.

As if working on a mega yacht wasn't already grueling enough, things just got so much more challenging for Jessica More this season of Below Deck Mediterranean.

The July 6 episode ended with the third stew appearing to majorly hurt herself. When the next episode aired on July 13, the worst was confirmed: Jess had, in fact, hurt her finger, and she needed to go to the hospital to have it checked out.

Jess immediately met with Captain Sandy Yawn upon her return from the hospital. She confirmed that her finger had a hairline fracture, and she needed to wear a brace on her hand for about a week or two. Captain Sandy told Jess that she had to talk to chief stew Hannah Ferrier, but there was a possibility that her charter season could end there if she wasn't going to be able to do her job with her injury.

However, Hannah decided to give Jess a chance, and the third stew proved that she could get the job done with only one functioning hand. Jess cleaned up the guests' cabins, made fresh-squeezed orange juice, and even memorably unpacked a charter guest's luggage, all while injured.

Jess noted on Twitter as the episode aired on July 13 that although it was "so painful" when she hurt her finger, she wasn't going to let her injury get in the way of her work. "I like challenges," she tweeted.

She also showed that she had a little sense of humor about the situation. "May I introduce you to my little friend The CLAW (The 4th stew)!" Jess said of her hand wrap in a post on Instagram on July 14.

On a more serious note, Jess expressed her gratitude to her crew members for allowing her to continue to work this charter season, as well as just being there for her in her time of need. "I’m grateful [Hannah and Captain Sandy] gave me a chance to prove myself. It isn’t over yet but grateful for the opportunity to be allowed to show up to work," Jess shared on Instagram. "And thank you [Bugsy Drake] for lathering on Deodorant for me and everyone who helped me button my shirt up [every time]."
