Jewel 'Fine' After Collision with Fire Truck
"Platinum Hit" host said to be doing well after accident.
A scary scene for singer, mother-to-be, and upcoming Bravo host Jewel this morning when she was involved in a two car accident.
The collision occurred on Highway 67 in Stephenville, Texas at 11 a.m. CT when a Harbin Volunteer Fire Department fire/brush truck – en route to a grass fire -- crashed into the passenger side of Jewel's vehicle. No word on whether Jewel was behind the wheel at the time of the accident or if hubby Ty Murray was also in the car. The pregnant singer was taken to a local hospital, and both she and her baby are said to be all right.
"The singer was taken to the hospital and current medical tests conducted indicate that she and the baby are doing fine," Jewel rep said in a statement.
The 36-year-old singer-songwriter and her rodeo superstar husband struggled for two years to conceive. Inspired by her pregnancy, Jewel is currently working on a second children's album. "Having the best day producing the kids album! i cant wait for you to hear how CUTE its turning out! percussion player is killing it!" she tweeted yesterday.
Jewel is also scheduled to appear at the annual SXSW festival in Austin next week for a private performance and to help launch her upcoming Bravo show, Platinum Hit, a music competition show focusing on songwriters. Jewel serves as both host and judge alongside head judge Kara DioGuardi. The show is expected to premiere this summer.
