Josh Flagg Is Selling the "Finest Residence in the United States" for $195M (EXCLUSIVE)
The MDLLA agent spoke to The Daily Dish about selling "the most famous house in Los Angeles."
Josh Flagg is taking on another historic sale.
The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles cast member is the listing agent for Casa Encantada, which is described in the listing as the "finest residence in the United States." The 8.4-acre property, built in 1937, is noted as "one of the most important examples of Los Angeles architecture," restored in the "Deco Hollywood style of original interior designer, T.H. Robjohns Gibbons."
The stunning estate overlooking Bel Air Country Club features seven bedrooms and 20 bathrooms, a "grand entry hall with 14 ft. ceilings," a formal dining room, a junior dining room, a library, and both formal and informal living rooms.
The classic, elegant interior design extends throughout the lower levels as well as the upstairs, which has a primary suite, two sitting rooms, a main bedroom, and an additional three bedrooms for family or guests.
The mansion also features an incredible "pool pavilion" in the backyard, perfect for hosting large events and entertaining. The grounds have a 60 ft. tile pool, rose gardens, a vegetable/herb garden, a tropical botanical garden, a tennis court, and plenty of green space.
"A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire a legend," the listing reads.
More Details on Josh Flagg's Casa Encantada Listing
Speaking with The Daily Dish in a recent interview, Josh gushed about the listing. "I have the biggest house for sale in the country right now, so really nothing better," he shared, speaking further about the "old Hilton estate" that spans "eight acres."
"It is about 240,000 square feet and probably the most famous house in Los Angeles," Josh shared.
According to a November 2023 article from The Wall Street Journal, the storied property has "twice set a record as the most expensive private home ever sold in the U.S., first in 1980 and then again in 2000."
Also per the outlet, the Depression-era estate was originally built for a "wealthy widow" named Hilda Boldt Weber, a New York City hospital nurse, who married multimillionaire Cincinnati glass manufacturer Charles Boldt. When he died in 1929, he left Weber his "extensive fortune."
Casa Encantada's previous owners include hotelier Conrad Hilton, who purchased the home in 1950 for $225,000, and Dole Food billionaire David Murdock, who bought the home in 1980 after Hilton's death for $12.4 million.
Needless to say, Josh is pretty happy about taking on such a monumental sale.
"I really love what I do. There's nothing really I'd rather do about this, to be honest with you," he told The Daily Dish.
