Jackie Walters Sits Down with Vice President Kamala Harris for an Important Mother’s Day Conversation
The VP and the Married to Medicine ob-gyn joined forces to highlight the “maternal health crisis.”
Married to Medicine’s Dr. Jackie Walters sat down with Vice President Kamala Harris for an important and timely chat that was shared on Mother’s Day (May 14). The two women joined forces to shed light on “the maternal health crisis” on the day that celebrates moms everywhere.
“On Mother’s Day, we celebrate our nation’s mothers for the care they give — but we must also rededicate ourselves to making sure they receive the care they need,” Vice President Harris noted on Instagram about the conversation with the Married to Medicine doctor. “I sat down with ob-gyn [Dr. Jackie Walters] for a critical conversation about America’s maternal health crisis.”
The vice president later noted that this conversation with Jackie about “the maternal health crisis” was one of the “highlights from my week.”
The same day they released the candid conversation, each woman also paid tribute to her own mother.
Jackie posted an Instagram to celebrate her mother, writing, “Happy Mother’s Day to my favorite lady in the whole wide world!!! It gives me joy to be one of her reasons for smiling.”
Vice President Harris posted a photo of herself with her mom, captioning it, “My mother, Shyamala, came to the U.S. from India alone at 19. She was a force — a scientist, a civil rights activist, and a mother who infused a sense of pride in her two daughters. This Mother’s Day, I honor her — and all mothers of every kind across our nation.”
