While promoting the Broadway revival of The Wiz, Kandi and her husband, Todd Tucker, were pressed about recent divorce rumors circulating on social media. The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum immediately dismissed the bogus claims during a sitdown with Us Weekly, saying she first heard about the whispers from her oldest daughter, Riley Burruss.

Kandi Burruss learned about the divorce rumors from her daughter Riley

“That was some BS," Kandi told emphatically the outlet with Todd by her side. “Riley actually sent it to me. She was like, ‘Why do people keep saying that y’all about to get divorced?’”

Kandi said she wasn’t sure what sparked the rumors but suspects they stemmed from her and hubby's online content. She specifically pointed to Todd and the Glam Squad, a YouTube series in which Kandi gets her hair and makeup done while discussing — and sometimes debating — hot topics with her husband.

“We are great debaters, OK? We are passionate when we go back and forth,” Kandi said about the online show. “And I think people kind of mistook that to say we were angry with each other... We’re debating the topic. We’re going back and forth about this. I’ve been like that my whole life. As soon as we have a back-and-forth, I can walk out the room and be like, ‘OK, now what are we doing next?’ Whereas, I guess to somebody that’s watching it, they are thinking that it’s more than that.”

Todd Tucker says it's "tough" having a relationship in the public eye

Todd echoed his wife, saying viewers often misinterpreted their exchanges and blew things out of proportion.

“They’re analyzing: ‘Wow, he said this' or 'His posture’ — you know how they do,” Todd told the host. “But it was just a good, fun conversation. I think people just took it wrong.”

He continued: “It is tough because you’re always on stage and you can’t really kind of relax out in public. But for me, I think from doing reality TV early on with her, I really don’t pay it no mind. We know what’s going on.”

Kandi met Todd in 2011 while filming a Season 4 cast trip to South Africa. Todd was working as an RHOA producer at the time and was immediately smitten with the Xscape singer.

“I was trying to play it cool in Africa as it’s against the rules to cross the line with the talent,” he told BravoTV.com in 2014. “In Production that’s a big NO NO!… I loved her smile, she had a great butt! LOL! She seemed very humble and genuine.”

Kandi and Todd ultimately said “I do” on April 4, 2014, when Riley was just 11. Todd also entered the marriage with a teenage daughter named Kaela Tucker, whom he shares with an ex-partner.

Several years after tying the knot, Kandi and Todd expanded their family with a son, Ace Wells Tucker, and a daughter, Blaze Tucker, who were born in 2016 and 2019, respectively.
