Kandi Burruss on How She Monetized the Sex Dungeon Rumor: "Take the Shade and Get Paid"

The RHOA singer-songwriter was able to turn lemons into lemonade for her Welcome to the Dungeon show.

By Hannah Fusaro

There was a time when Kandi Burruss was definitely not amused by a false rumor spread about her, which Porsha Williams shared with her, which alleged that she had a sex dungeon in her basement. However, that's all in the past and she and Porsha have since made up. She was even able to turn that experience into a positive one, as it inspired her Welcome To The Dungeon burlesque show, as seen on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. And it's taught Kandi a lesson that she won't soon forget, which she elaborated on in The Real Housewives of Atlanta After Show (clip above).

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Peacock and the Bravo App.

"I wanted to take that whole rumor and turn it into something that was fun and more of a positive situation, meaning that if anybody Googled it going forward — fun, positive and lucrative, you know I always want to make some money — but I just felt like at this point when people Google it, they'll be like, 'Oh, I can't wait to go to this event,' or 'Oh, I had so much fun when I was there,' and maybe pictures or videos of people doing something crazy and wild even though we didn't let all the pictures and videos come out because it was very wild — but it will be more of a party thing instead of a negative thing," she said.

In other words: "You better take that shade and get paid." And it seems she's done just that, as Kandi's show kicks off in May and is making stops around the country.
