When you spend a large part of your life on and in front of a camera, you can definitely learn a thing or two about appearances.
And Katie Maloney is sharing the wealth, dishing out beauty tips so that when it's time for your closeup, you're ready.
First off, consider the time and place, and match your look accordingly. "Definitely make sure you are appropriate for the occasion and always look like yourself," she tells Beauty World News. "When I'm filming I want to make sure my makeup looks perfect, but also want to look like I'm not wearing any unless it makes sense. I would never wear dramatic make up to lunch in broad day light. It's not really a 'less is more' kind of thing. It's more of a 'more is less,' if you know what you're doing."
Also, when it comes to your hair, don't overdo it. "I try and only wash my hair 2 times a week. That way I don't dry it out and it also cuts down on the styling wear and tear," she explains. "I try to let my hair air dry as often as possible, especially if I'm using a flat iron on it. Dry shampoo is great for a refresher in between washes."
Not to say that Katie hasn't made her fair share of beauty faux paux, one of which she freely admits. "I think I would agree with the masses and say it was my hair a couple years ago," she shares. "It was supposed to be blonde, but was more orange than anything. I didn't hate it, but got really tired of it and the up-keep."
Another piece of advice? Know yourself well enough to not let the haters get to you. "Self-awareness, integrity, tenacity and authenticity are hugely important qualities," she says. "People will judge and people will hate, but people will also love and support in ways unimaginable."
