Captain Lee Rosbach Is "Astounded" When He Learns Kevin Dobson Kicked Sand in Kate Chastain's Face
"I can’t say that I have ever been more surprised at the crew behavior than I was this season," the Below Deckboss said.
The full moon party in the Below Deck Season 7 finale gave the Valor yachties one last chance to celebrate the wild charter season it was. And it also gave Kate Chastain and Kevin Dobson one last opportunity to argue before they left, with each criticizing how the other did their job this season.
Kate and Kevin then parted ways and looked like they weren't about to speak to each other again that night. However, Kevin later decided to kick some sand in the direction of Kate, who was sitting down on the beach. "A projectile of sand shoots into my eye. This was not an accident," Kate said during an interview in the episode. "Kevin kicked sand in my eye, and he definitely did it on purpose."
This seemed to be news to Kevin, who had been partying particularly hard during the full moon party. "Did we get that on camera?" he said in the Below Deck Season 7 After Show (clip above). "OK, yeah well, then I did."
Captain Lee Rosbach, who was not present at the full moon party, was shocked to hear what happened. "I am really, really astounded by that," he said during the After Show.
Kevin also said during the After Show that he didn't see any reason to restrain his true feelings for Kate at the full moon party. "You've got to understand that it's all done now. There's no more guests to serve," he said. "There's no more holding back."
Rhylee Gerber said she didn't think Kevin was trying to purposely hurt Kate. "I don't remember exactly, but I think I remember that in the moment I didn't think he did that on purpose," she explained in the After Show. "Again, we're all drunk, so I can't speak matter-of-factly. But I do not think Kate was wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, and he's aiming for her eyes."
Captain Lee could tell how divided the crew was this season, he shared in the latest blog post on his website. "This crew really did not like each other and that was evident early on," he wrote.
He also remarked how much of "a struggle" this whole season of Below Deck was. "I can’t say that I have ever been more surprised at the crew behavior than I was this season," Captain Lee said in his blog. "Things were definitely more different than they appeared to be on the surface. Some of this crew were really good [at] concealing things well."
The entire Valor crew will be back to discuss all of this season's most eyebrow-raising moments during the upcoming Below Deck Season 7 reunion. Check out the crew before they sat down with Andy Cohen, below.
