Kim Richards Calls Sister Kathy Hilton Her “Biggest Supporter”
The relatives also bonded over spoiling their grandchildren.
Kim Richards and Kathy Hilton have an unbreakable sisterly bond.
In honor of National Siblings Day on April 10, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills sisters dished about all things regarding their special connection — and tears were shed along the way.
Kim first gushed about the "best part" about getting to look up to Kathy as an older sister. "You are my biggest supporter," Kim said during the siblings' chat with Entertainment Tonight as she got emotional about her older sister's impact on her life. "You're always behind me, and always encouraging me. When I think I can't do something, I know you believe I can."
In addition to being there to support Kim, Kathy is also always around when the two need to share a lighthearted moment. "I love the way we laugh together. I love the way we have fun together, and I love our relationship," Kim added. "I'm super grateful."
Kathy acknowledged Kim's resilience while answering the same question. "I admire your strength, no matter what has gone on in your life, and you've been through some really tough times. You really try to look at the glass half full, and I admire that. You always manage to pick yourself up by the bootstraps, put a smile on your face," Kathy said. "And you're not a gossip."
Kathy and Kim have always had a bond as sisters, and now they share a newer connection as grandmothers. Through her eldest daughter, Brooke Wiederhorn, Kim has three grandkids — Hucksley, Hunter, and Sawyer — while Kathy is a grandma to Nicky Hilton Rothschild's three kids; Barron Hilton's two children; and Paris Hilton's newborn son, Phoenix Reum.
"I love the relationship you have with your kids," Kim said. "I love the relationship I have with mine. I think we got that from Mom."
Kathy, Kim, and Kyle Richards' mom, Kathleen Richards, passed away from breast cancer in 2002. Now that Kim and Kathy are grandparents, they said they have a newfound respect and understanding for their own parents.
"That's the thing that drives me crazy, is that they missed that," Kathy said about how their late parents never got to meet their great-grandchildren.
The sisters also connected over the fact that they are sometimes "both guilty" of spoiling their respective grandkids, much to their kids' dismay.
The Escape to Witch Moutain actress said that her daughter Brooke will tell her "no more stuff" when she arrives at the Wiederhorn house, and that the kids have to give something away each time she brings a new item over. Kathy's son and daughter are the same way about their kids (she noted that Paris' son is too young).
"I really don't," Kathy said about spoiling her grandchildren. "Nicky and Barron... they don't want all of this 'every day is Christmas' [stuff]."
