Kristen and Scheana Think Sandoval and Ariana Needed to Chill About the Hawaii Trip
"This makes me feel so important," Kristen said of the #PumpRules couple's reaction to her possible invite.
Kristen Doute isn't exactly friends with her ex Tom Sandoval and his current girlfriend Ariana Madix. It's quite the opposite, actually. However, Kristen has been trying to make amends with the couple this season of Vanderpump Rules. In particular, she tried to clear the air with Ariana, who wasn't really open to listening to what Kristen had to say, which didn't surprise her at all. "Hell, no. I didn't go in there apologizing because I wanted her to accept it or expect an apology back or even expected her to be receptive toward it," Kristen told The Daily Dish. "I did it for me."
Kristen said she felt like she needed to have that one-on-one with Ariana so she could own how she had acted around her ex-boyfriend's boo in the past. "It made me feel better to let go of all of the anger and also to be extremely self-aware and accept the things that I did wrong, which is why I said, 'I'm not sorry for being angry. I'm not sorry for being upset with you for the whole Tom situation, but the way that I reacted was extremely immature,'" she explained. "I had to just kind of own my bullsh**, you know? So yeah, I felt better about it."
Unfortunately, those lingering negative feelings for Kristen bubbled over when Tom exploded over the topic of Kristen possibly joining the group trip to Hawaii coming up. "This makes me feel so important," Kristen said of Tom's reaction. "It doesn't surprise me at all because I was with him for six years. He's very stubborn and opinionated. If it's not Tom's way, it's the highway. I don't know them as a couple, obviously, but I know as much about Ariana as what I've seen and been around. I feel like she's the same way. So that's a really interesting dynamic for me to see that on TV. But my whole thing is, just seeing what I'm watching as much as the fans are, I just feel like if I don't have the 'power' over them, then they need to get over it, because all I'm seeing is I actually have a lot of power over them."
Scheana Shay, who saw the whole thing go down firsthand, also thought Sandoval and Ariana overreacted. "I understood they didn't want [Kristen] there, but they didn't understand then maybe you shouldn't do a joint trip with Jax [Taylor] who wants her there," she told The Daily Dish. "I was trying to support Jax's decision. I did not mind if Kristen came because we were getting along great at the time. So I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm all about it, but it's not my trip. It's not my brithday, so it's not up to me.' I mean, I think it just went a little too far."
Still, both Kristen and Scheana agreed that it didn't seem like a big deal for Kristen to join the Vanderpump Rules Hawaiian adventure since the group has always taken a summer vacay together. They've even done so when everyone didn't get along, such as when Stassi Schroeder included Jax on trips and Kristen was in Miami with Sandoval and Ariana present.
However, what they found most upsetting about Sandoval's reaction is how he talked to his friends. "I just think the reaction, if they didn't want me there, there was a way to go about speaking to their best friends, to Katie [Maloney], to Scheana, to Jax, and just kind of talk it out like adults calmly and firmly," Kristen said. "It still probably would have gone the same way because they weren't gonna try to trump Sandoval's feelings or Ariana's feelings. But to just explode on them, especially Katie, the way they spoke to Katie, it's like how are you any better than I was two years ago?"
As last Monday night's episode showed, things are still tense between Kristen, Sandoval, and Ariana on Vanderpump Rules. However, it looks like there's plenty more drama to go down during the Hawaii trip and Stassi's upcoming return to the show. See what we mean in the clip, below.
