Kylie Jenner's New Show Suggests We Might Not Know Kylie as Well as We Think We Do
“When you grow up on camera, everybody feels like they know you," she says in the new Life of Kylie teaser.
If you have been watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians, get ready to add another circuit to your reality TV viewing workout. Kylie Jenner is getting her promised spinoff, Life of Kylie, and the teaser trailer looks as decadent and perfect as a Kylie’s Instagram feed. But, Kylie warns in a voiceover, things are not always what they seem.
“When you grow up on camera, everybody feels like they know you,” Kylie says. “But they don’t.”
The trailer shows Kylie as she’s swept from event to event, a pop-up shop here, a red carpet there, and it also makes liberal use of Lip Kit and Kylie brand sneaker imagery. It reminds us that Kylie has the words “beauty mogul" on her resume, suggesting we’ll be watching her claw her way to the top of a makeup empire, with all the drama and setbacks that implies.
“Nobody has a perfect life,” she continues. “Now I can find what really is gonna make me happy. There’s an image that I have to keep up with. Then there’s me: Kylie.”
US Weekly reports that Kylie worked on the show with her mother, Kris Jenner, and that she has basically attributed the opportunity to her many, many fans.
“The last couple years have been such an incredible journey with the support of my fans,” she said. “This show will allow me to give them a peek inside all of the exciting things I am working on as well as some personal time with friends.”
It’s hard to imagine what kind of access we’ll get to Kylie Jenner via an edited reality TV show that we can’t get through her Snapchats, but if the show is anything like the trailer, it will at least be a lusciously beautiful experience.
Life of Kylie premieres on E! Tuesday, July 6.
