Lamar Odom Says Khloe Kardashian Knew About and "Tolerated" His Drug Use
Lamar explains what happened the night of his overdose, and how his #KUWTK ex helped him get through it.
Lamar Odom has been on a long journey to recovery since entering rehab following a drug overdose in 2015. And it was during this time that he and Khloe Kardashian finalized their divorce. No one really knows everything that goes on between two people in a marriage, especially one complicated by addiction. But there are a few things we do know — because Lamar is telling everybody.
In an exclusive with US Weekly, Lamar claims that Khloé was aware of his drug use because at a certain point he became too apathetic to try and hide it from her.
“I was hiding it for a while, but then I got frustrated and was like, f*** it,” Lamar said. “Around two years before we split up [in 2011], I was in the man cave she had made for me and she caught me. She was disappointed. So was I. The sad thing about it is, I don’t know if I was disappointed because I was actually doing the drug or because she caught me. She knew I was doing cocaine the whole time after that. It was my drug of choice. I’m not going to say she accepted it because that would be the wrong word. Tolerated would be a better word.”
He was also very open about cheating on Khloé during their marriage, saying that appearing on reality TV attracted women’s interest. Lamar even went so far as to suggest that the women who were after him were, in part, responsible for what happened.
“Bitches and THOTs came out of the woodwork,” he said. “If there is one thing I regret when I was married, it was having multiple affairs with different women. That wasn’t the stand-up thing to do. I wish I could have kept my d*** in my pants.”
Lamar went on to explain that cocaine ate away at his sex drive in general. He was only able to have sex while on drugs, and he became increasingly disinterested in the state of his relationship and also in training and working on his career as an athlete. On the night of his overdose, Lamar has no memory of what happened to him. He was in bed, and then his next memory is of being in the hospital, attempting to pull a tube out of his nose. He was surprised and grateful to see Khloé at his side.
“She played a major role in me getting my memory back,” he said of Khloé, “She would bring pictures of my mother and my grandmother. I kept thinking, 'Am I paralyzed forever? Am I mute forever?' It was scary s***. Faith got me through.”
Still, Lamar didn’t enter rehab until his daughter gave him an ultimatum: get clean or lose his relationship with her. So far, rehab has been a success, according to Lamar. “Living sober, meaning no drugs, is a great feeling,” he said.
