As someone who’s been closely associated with A-list celebrities, Larsa has endured years of dismissive insults that challenged her success. The Chicago native has been accused of piggybacking off her famous friends as well as sucking up to well-known figures in an effort to secure a certain social status. The allegation was touched upon in The Real Housewives of Miami Season 6 midseason trailer, which teased Larsa’s heated exchange with fellow ’Wife Lisa Hochstein and friend Adriana de Moura.

“You need to apologize because you were an asshole,” Larsa told Lisa in the preview.

Lisa then accused Larsa of the same behavior, prompting Adriana to bring up the latter’s association with Kim Kardashian and her famous family.

“And you weren’t there, darling,” Adriana shouted at Larsa. “You were in LA for 10 years, kissing the Kardashians’ ass. So, shut up!”

Larsa spoke about the moment in a recent interview with People magazine, insisting her achievements were a result of hard work and personal growth.

“If you know me, you know that for the last 10 years, I’ve been working on my brand and my superstar kids,” she told the outlet. “That’s really where I’ve been. I haven’t been anywhere else, or sucking up to anyone else. I’ve always lived in different states. Always had famous friends.”

Larsa went on to say that she has spent her whole life “working to grow and evolve,” unlike Adriana, who has made multiple references to the Kardashians when criticizing Larsa.

“Adriana is literally the same person she was 13 years ago,” the mother of three continued. “She says that because she hasn’t evolved. I feel like for me, I’ve evolved and come so far from where I was 13 years ago. So I don’t really pay her or anyone who says that any attention because I feel like I’m really focused on the things that matter, the things that make a difference for me and the people around me. I don’t hide in anyone’s shadow… I’m my own person. I feel like I’m good being alone.”

Larsa said she became close with Kim back in 2010 when the SKIMS boss and her sister Kourtney Kardashian were living in Miami. However, the friendship began to fizzle out when Kim started having marital issues with her now ex-husband, Kanye West.

“I was best friends with Kim, and I love her and I love Kanye, and I just was the person that was stuck in the middle,” Larsa said in RHOM Season 4. “I was the friend that was basically there and saw everything. And that basically was the demise of our relationship. I knew too much, I was a problem, and so, whatever. That’s kind of what happened.”

Larsa has since said there was no bad blood between her and The Kardashians star, as they've maintained a cordial relationship.

“We’re friends,” she told Access in 2022. “There’s no beef. There’s no bad situation. If I see [Kim], obviously, we’re gonna speak.”
