Laverne Cox Applauds Caitlyn Jenner's Style
The Orange is the New Black star breaks down Caitlyn's fashion choices on #WWHL.
So far, Caitlyn Jenner has been slaying it in the fashion department. Since appearing on the cover of Vanity Fair last month, Caitlyn hasn't been shy about showing off her chic, lady-like style from coast to coast. And now there are two fellow fashionistas who are applauding her sense of style.
Orange Is the New Black's Laverne Cox (who is also a transgender woman) and fashion editor Andre Leon Talley weighed in the E! star during a stop at Watch What Happens Live. "I think she looks great," Laverne said. "I love what she's wearing. I think she recently wore [Herve] Leger. I wear Leger a lot. Go, Caitlyn!"
Andre mirrored Laverne's sentiment. "I think she looks fabulous," he added. "I thought she was fabulous on the Vanity Fair cover. And I think she looks like a perfect, wealthy, affluent white woman who's privileged, and that's important. And she comes from that kind of background. I think she looks fabulous."
Laverne also responded to a question of whether she thinks there has been too much of an emphasis placed on Caitlyn's appearance. "The reality about that is that that is a part of the culture that we live in with women who are celebrities," she said. "But I think it's important, particularly when we talk about women and trans women even more particularly, that we focus on who the person is beyond what we look like. I'd like to think I have a lot more to offer beyond what I look like."
