It wasn't really so much Lady Gaga's win for Best Supporting Actress Performance in a Series, Miniseries or Television Film at the Golden Globes on Sunday that had everyone buzzing — it was the face Leonardo DiCaprio made as she breezed past him to accept her prize. The moment instantly went viral after The Revenant star was caught in the audience making an unusual series of faces, during which he appeared to back away from the actress/singer as she passed him making her way to the stage.

And, now we know why. No, you see, the Golden Globe winner wasn't throwing shade at the American Horror Story: Hotel actress. He later spilled the tea about the now-infamous meme to reveal just what was going through his head in that moment. “Oh lord — that’s trending, huh?” Leo, who also took home a Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama trophy for his role in The Revenant, told Entertainment Tonight. “I just didn’t know what was passing me — that’s all!”

With that all cleared up, you can check out Gaga's emotional speech below.
