Lisa Rinna on Parenting: 'I Believe in Bribery & Threats'
The 'RHOBH' star dishes out her secret tips and tricks on raising kids.
In essence of Mother’s Day this weekend, we thought now would be a good time to dish out some sage parenting advice. And who better than Lisa Rinna to help insure that your kids don’t become snotty little ---holes?!
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star's tips may not be the most conventional, but she says they’re pretty foolproof. Lisa recently posted an adorable selfie with her daughter Delilah on Instagram along with a childhood story.
After Delilah started spitting at 3-years-old, Lisa decided to get creative to get her to stop: she told her that she would grow a penis. “One of my best parenting moments was when she spat at me I told her only boys spit and if she didn’t stop spitting she was going to grow a penis,” she writes. “She never spit again.” Brilliant!
So we wondered, what other gems could the soap star dole out? “I believe in bribery and threats,” she reveals exclusively to the Daily Dish. “I think if used wisely they work wonders.”
And if you’ve got a little one who’s having trouble being honest, Lisa’s got the perfect solution for you. “I taught the girls to say ‘caught red handed’ when they were fibbing or telling a lie when they were little, which kids often do,” she explains. “I said ‘just own it if you did it, just raise your hands up in the air and say caught red handed!’ I said ‘Nothing will happen and you won’t get in trouble and it will free you.’”
It’s a trick that’s helped her two daughters immensely. “It worked, my girls still cop to their s***. I love that lesson!”
