Harry Hamlin Finally Shares His Thoughts on Lisa Rinna's Iconic Amsterdam Wine Toss
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills husband addresses his wife's memorable moment with Kim Richards in Season 5.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ladies' trip to Amsterdam has gone down in Real Housewives history as one of the most dramatic girls' trips ever, mostly because of the group's explosive dinner that included some sister drama between Kyle Richards and Kim Richards, Kim calling Eileen Davidson a "beast," and a meal-ending wine toss. Relive the crazy dinner, above.
The cause of all of that broken glass was two sentences that have puzzled RHOBH fans since Season 5: "Let's talk about the husband," Kim said at the table in reference to Lisa Rinna's husband, Harry Hamlin. "Let's not talk about what you don't want out."
It wasn't clear at all what Kim was referring to then, and the mystery hasn't exactly been solved since then. But thankfully, none other than Harry himself addressed Kim's comments in an interview for LAPALME magazine's winter issue, which may shed some new light on the moment. “I forgot what Kim said. I think she implied that I’d done something out of the marriage, but Lisa went ballistic over that. I was very proud of her,” Harry said, as reported by Us Weekly. “I wonder what I’d do in that same position."
Harry and Lisa are still going strong after 21 years of marriage, something the RHOBH husband called "just miraculous" during his interview with LAPALME. He attributed the longevity of his marriage to that old adage, "opposites attract." “We never get tired of each other’s stories," Harry said. "Lisa is a master of social media and pop culture. My real interests are the political and scientific.”
Of course, Harry and Lisa's commitment to working through their issues and maintaining their solid family unit, which also includes supermodel daughters Delilah Belle Hamlin, 20, and Amelia Gray Hamlin, 17, also makes for a happy and healthy marriage. “We put a lot of time in therapy and talking and reading books and trying to figure out how to create a foundation for a family," Harry shared.
Though Lisa has said that Harry "watches every single" episode of RHOBH these days, her interest in joining the 90210 squad almost led to the end of their marriage way back when. "I went to him and I said, 'They're interested in me doing this show, the Housewives.' His initial response at that time was, 'Nope. I’ll divorce you. If you do it, I’ll divorce you.' I said, 'OK, done.' No more conversations, done. Walked out of the room, that was that. I was fine with it," Lisa said during an interview on Oprah: Where Are They Now? in 2015. "He comes back to me in like two days, and he said, 'You know, I’ve thought about it, I’ve done some research.' I love when he says that. 'I've changed my mind. I think it might be a good thing for you.' My head's going, 'What? Are you kidding me?' Harry, being a really, really smart businessman himself, said, ‘It’s a good thing; it’ll work for you, you should do it.’ So I did it."
And we're certainly glad Lisa did.
