Before Luann de Lesseps Was a Housewife...

If all goes as planned, by year's end Luann de Lesseps will officially be Mrs. Thomas D'Agostino. But for nearly two decades, The Real Housewives of New York City bride-to-be was married to Count Alexandre de Lesseps. It was a whirlwind courtship that lasted from 1993 to 2009 and included the birth of two kids. Now the woman (almost) formerly known as the countess is reflecting on that time in her life.

"I think people think I'm the countess that married the old count and the Housewives came along and changed my life. But before I was a Housewife, I feel like I lived a lifetime of lives," she says in a special that will take a closer look at her many lives. "After the fifth day, he said, 'Marry me.' I lived in a fairy tale, too good to be true."

During the sit-down, Luann reflects on the break-up of her marriage and how she struggled to deal with it in the public eye. "My family knew my marriage was in trouble. But the Housewives didn't know. I didn't want it to be fodder for the show," she adds, before reading a passage from her journal about how lonely she was feeling at the time of the separation and how she struggled with it.

The special, slated to air June 22, delves into much of Luann's colorful life. For now, you can check out the moment Luann revealed to Sonja she's engaged to Thomas, below.
