Lydia McLaughlin Won't Let Her Kids Eat Fast Food
The RHOC star reveals how she gets her tots to eat their greens.
Remember when Slade Smiley wanted to nickname Lydia McLaughlin "cheeseburger" on The Real Housewives of Orange County? Well, not only does Lydia want to stay away from that nickname--she also wants to keep her kids away from fast food.
Lydia has revealed that instead of buying her kids Mickey D's and stocking her pantry with chips and cookies, she and her sons Stirling, 4, and Maverick, 2, opt for more health-conscious snacks.
"We make smoothies and put spinach in them," Lydia tells Us Weekly. "That's a good way to get your kids to eat their greens and you can freeze them. We make them into lollipops or popsicles."
Not only does Lydia practice healthy eating habits at home, but she makes sure that her little ones stay away from junk food (except for an indulgence every now and then.) "We went to the mall and they had Wetzel's Pretzels," she says. "They're children, but they've never had fast food in their whole life."
That's not to say Lydia doesn't have an urge for something sweet now and again. Her idea for a healthy, sugary snack? Almonds covered in chocolate. "I have chocolate every day," Lydia confesses. "Maybe that's why I don't want to have a huge cheesecake on Saturdays because I've been feeding that urge [for something sweet in moderation] daily."
