George Michael’s passing was felt deeply by many. He had fans everywhere, including many of his fellow pop culture icons, like Adele, who gave a show-stopping performance of his song "Fastlove" at the 2017 Grammys, and Mariah Carey, who covered George’s song “One More Try” in 2014, to the accolades of George himself. At the time, he tweeted at Mariah, “@MariahCarey thank u for recording One more try. Such an honour 2 have one of the best voices in the world singing my song.”

She replied, “@GeorgeMichael I'm so honored u like my rendition of "One More Try." You & this song have always meant so much to me. Fan&friend for life.”

Mariah remains George’s fan and friend even in death. Upon his passing, she posted a message about him on her website that reads, “George was not only a great musician, he was an active ambassador in the LBGTQ community, pushing for greater understanding, acceptance, and love for all people.  He touched so many lives and inspired us all.”

On March 31, Mariah shared a video of her singing that cover of “One More Try” at her live concert in Dubai, captioning the video, “We miss you, George Michael.”

It's a flawless and beautiful tribute as only Mariah can deliver — and exactly how George would have wanted it.
