Mariah Huq Just Received a Major Award in Her Hometown
“Words cannot express my gratitude and humility,” the Married to Medicine cast member said.
Mariah Huq has been honored for her civic and community leadership in her very own hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Married to Medicine wife took home the Ruby Hurley Humanitarian of the Year Award at the NAACP 32nd Annual Ruby Hurley Image Awards, which was presented to her by Reverend Al Sharpton. Ruby Hurley (1909-1980) was a Civil Rights Movement leader as well as an official NAACP administrator who was recognized for her service and resilience, so receiving the award is a flattering tribute for Mariah.
Mariah shared on Instagram prior to the event, "Words cannot express my gratitude and humility. Thank you!"
"Thank you @real_sharpton for delivering such a profound message yesterday," she wrote in an Instagram post that shares a number of photos from the evening, including some with her husband, Aydin Huq, contestants from the Miss Tennessee pageant, and the Reverend Sharpton. The award was also given to Bishop Kevin Adams. "Thanks #NAACP Chattanooga Chapter for hosting such an awesome event & recognizing civic & community leaders. Congrats to all the honorees & to my fellow 2019 Humanitarian of the year Award Recipient Bishop Kevin Adams. It was an absolute honor to be amongst all of you. Onward & Upward. Much more work to do!"
Congratulations on being named for such a prestigious honor, Mariah!
