Dr. Simone Whitmore Reveals the "Final Straw" in Her Marriage to Cecil Whitmore
The Married to Medicine doctor explains what ultimately drove her to file for divorce.
Dr. Simone Whitmore shocked Married to Medicine fans when she announced that she had filed for divorce from her husband Cecil Whitmore after 21 years of marriage in January.
Dr. Simone has always been open about the challenges she's faced in her marriage, and this season of Married to Medicine was no exception, with the couple's relationship seeming to be strained like never before. However, after undergoing counseling, Dr. Simone and Cecil seemed to be on the up and up as the season went on, which is why the news of their separation may have come as a surprise to many fans.
On Thursday, when Dr. Simone appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen for the first time since she announced her separation, she spoke out about her split, including naming the "final straw" that made her want to end her marriage. You can find that out, as well as which Married to Medicine ladies on whom Dr. Simone has really leaned during this difficult time, in the above video.
Dr. Simone filed for divorce in October 2017, and she told PEOPLE in January that she planned to have the paperwork finalized when she returned home to Atlanta following the filming of this season's Married to Medicine reunion. “There is no if here, there are no games. I am not pretending, I am done,” she told PEOPLE. “I have reached a place where I am in a marriage where I do not feel loved and no sacrifices are being made for me to make me feel loved. I must move on.”
The OGBYN also teased "tension" and closure with Cecil when The Daily Dish caught up with her prior to the taping of the Married to Medicine reunion. "What I think is one chapter will end and a new one will begin, for me, anyway," she said. "I can't speak for any of the other ladies, but I know for sure that will be my story."
