Melissa Gorga Shows Off a "Funky" Part of Her New House: "It Adds Character" (VIDEO)

Although Melissa Gorga's foyer chandeliers were a big topic of conversation last year (more on that below), The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member is never one to shy away from eye-catching light fixtures in her home. 

While giving a full tour of her new house in the video above, Melissa shares a look inside the family room, which she notes is "where the family hangs and watches TV."

"I wanted it to be chic but still cozy and feel warm," she explains. "Of course, you have to have the gorgeous centerpiece, which is the chandelier. I'll always choose something a little funky because it adds character."

Later in the tour, Melissa also points out the "really cute chandelier" in her glam room and declares, "You know me, I love the chandelier."

Melissa Gorga defends her foyer chandeliers 

While Melissa loves "funky" lighting, she did decide to swap out her buzzed-about black fabric foyer chandeliers after receiving some fan criticism of the fixtures. 

“I absolutely love playing with home decor — I always have,” Melissa wrote in the caption of a March 2023 Instagram video that showed her sparkling replacement chandelier. “Waking up to this beauty is just sooo much better… Luckily I work with the best [Avenue Lighting]!! Love to be able to play around with ideas!! Decor is a process. Sometimes you need to live in the home for a minute to decide what fits perfectly.”

At BravoCon 2023, Shahs of Sunset's Mercedes "MJ" Javid brought up Melissa's lighting when she said, "I know that Melissa got a lot of shade for her chandeliers."

Melissa confirmed that was true and went on to share her thoughts on the fan commentary. 

"They're switched already. People thought they looked like flying jellyfish," she said during the November 2023 conversation. "I kind of liked them. But I said, 'You know what?' After you called them a jellyfish I can't frickin' unsee it.'"

"But I'll be honest with you, they were a great conversation piece," she continued. "Everybody wanted to talk about the chandeliers. I've never seen people talk about chandeliers more than this in my life."
