Mercedes “MJ” Javid's Fiancé Knew "Right Away" She Was the One
The #Shahs couple opens up about the early days of their romance.
If you're looking for love and not sure if dating apps are right for you, Mercedes “MJ” Javid might be the proof you need that it does work. The Shahs of Sunset bride-to-be met her fiancé, Tommy Feight, online and the twosome are now the definition of relationship goals-- as you can see in the clip, above. And Tommy won MJ's heart by letting her take the reins of the courtship after they swiped right on each other.
"He was so hands off," she told The Daily Dish. "I was the one that was saying 'When are you going to ask me for my phone number? When are you gonna wanna see me in person?' And he was like 'Whenever you're ready.' And he never initiated it and that obviously worked, very well. He's got game."
The pair announced their engagement in January but have yet to set a wedding date. Still Tommy knew right from the start that he had met his match in MJ. "I knew right away. Just because I've always been so anti-getting married and being with someone forever; I just think it's a ridiculous thing," he said. "And then when I found someone and I knew right away, it was instant. You're awesome. I'll tell you how I know because even when I hate you more than anything on this Earth, I still want to be with you."
Looking back, MJ knew that finding love online versus IRL was the only way she was going to meet the one. "Everyone is on social media. And in L.A., I'm sure as New York is different but the same, if I'm gonna run into someone at the grocery store, it's gonna be like my 97-year-old grandmother who I'm gonna help walk her home. She's not gonna be a match, a love match," she said. "And I worked a lot more than I was, and I live in West Hollywood, which is predominately gay, so I was not gonna run into a guy. And I don't think that in L.A. guys have the balls to approach a woman. Even if they did, I would be like, 'He probably does this to 97 women a day.'"
Tommy certainly has MJ's seal of approval, but he had a harder time winning her mom, Vida, over, as you can see in the clip, below.
