Mike's company Royalty Moving recently helped comedy royalty move into a new home in L.A.: Damon Wayans. The actor's assistant apparently spotted Mike's post about his new moving company on Instagram and asked Royalty to submit a bid, the Shahs entrepreneur said in an interview with SpareFoot Blog. The company beat out four others for the job. “He was a childhood icon of mine from watching In Living Color and the funniest guy,” Mike said of working with Damon.

We're certainly glad to see Mike's company take off, especially since it was born out of a dark period in his life. After living alone in the L.A. home he once shared with his estranged wife Jessica Parido, Mike eventually decided to move out. “I stayed in my house as long as I could,” he said. “Finally I was like, ‘I got to get out of this environment.’ I was in the midst of divorce and super-depressed. Like most people I went on Google and Yelp looking for a mover.”

After an unpleasant experience with a moving company that ended in a broken antique vase from his grandmother, Mike decided to take action. “A light bulb went off in my head,” Mike said. “This is the second move where I had a bad experience. I need to do something about this.”

That's when Mike decided to start his own moving company. He bought a moving company called Chance Movers, renamed it Royalty Moving, and took the firm to the next level by acquiring two new moving trucks and training the existing staff with courses that covered positive thinking and self-awareness, for example.

Mike is so hands-on with the company that you might even see him during your move. He also said he hopes to launch an arm specializing in moving antiques next. “My grandfather loved antiques and it is something I became infatuated with," Mike said.

But for now, Mike is focusing on making the moving experience the best it can be for customers. “Through this darkness I went through, I eventually found light," he said. "Now I am shedding light for other people that are moving.”

Mike and Jessica will try to move past their issues in Sunday night's new episode of Shahs of Sunset. See a preview of their struggle, below, and catch the new episode Sunday at 8/7c.
