Nene Leakes Reveals the Real Problem She Has with Cynthia Bailey and Kenya Moore's Friendship

Nene Leakes explains the root of The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 11 finale drama with Cynthia Bailey.

By Laura Rosenfeld

Kenya Moore made an appearance during The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 11 finale Sunday night, but her return wasn't exactly welcomed by all of the Georgia Peaches. Nene Leakes seemed to not be having any of Kenya unexpectedly showing up to Cynthia Bailey's event, especially since she was going through some drama with the RHOA alum at the time.

Cynthia's friendship with Kenya has long seemed to rub Nene the wrong way, but it feels like we haven't really been able to get to the heart of why their relationship bothers her so much — until now. Nene explained exactly why it can be difficult to see Cynthia be so close with Kenya during The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 11 After Show, which you can check out, above. "I am the kind of friend that when you call me, I make the time to talk to you. Kenya is the kind of friend that when she has time, she will call you, and there's a f--king difference," Nene said. "Kenya is not around for her to talk to and yet, she acts as if she and Kenya are friends. That's the problem that bothers me."

But it wasn't so much that Kenya attended Cynthia's event that upset Nene; rather, she didn't like the way the RHOA alum's invitation came about — at least how she believes it came about. "Through the grapevine, Cynthia heard that Marlo and I had sat together at my store, and I had told Marlo that I was thinking about not going to Cynthia's event because she is always acting as if Kenya is so supportive of her when it's really me. And the fact that she doesn't give me that, I thought that maybe I shouldn't attend," Nene shared. "Kandi [Burruss]'s exact words to Cynthia were, 'You wanted Kenya here, and here she is.' So I knew then that Cynthia had gotten the message about me not wanting to be there, and they had orchestrated Kenya being there."

Nene then reiterated in the After Show how much she would have appreciated if Cynthia would have let her know that she invited Kenya to her event. "I didn't have a problem with Kenya walking into the event, because at the end of the day, Cynthia can have all the f--king friends in the world. It doesn't matter to me. What I had a problem with was she was using an excuse. She's trying to wiggle her f--king way out of it by saying, 'I invited her, but I didn't know if Kenya was gonna come,'" Nene explained. "The deal is all you gotta do is pick up the phone and say, 'Nene, just so you know, I invited her.' An invite doesn't mean [you're] coming, but give me a head's up, bitch, because you want a head's up. Don't do some s--t to me that you don't want me to do to you because when I do this s--t to you, my s--t is gonna be so crazy."

Kenya came to Cynthia's defense on Twitter, clarifying how she ended up at the party. "[Cynthia] and [Kandi] both invited me but CB never knew I was coming until I showed up #FACTS #RHOA," she tweeted.

Cynthia said during the After Show that she had no idea how much her invitation to Kenya — whether she showed up or not — would upset Nene. "I didn't think anything of it, I really didn't think she was coming," Cynthia said. "I really didn't think I had to get the guest list approved with anybody. I didn't think I needed to get the potential of anyone who might come approved by anyone. Well, Nene didn't see it that way."

However, Cynthia also expressed remorse for not notifying Nene of the possibility of Kenya showing up to her event. "I cannot believe in Nene's normal, rational mind that she would actually care who was at my party unless she came to support me because I've done nothing but be supportive of any and everything that she's done," she said during the After Show. "Looking back after talking to her, I was like, OK, fine. Maybe I should have said, 'Hey, Nene, there's a slim chance in hell that Kenya's coming to the party. Just wanted to let you know.' You don't even know how much I wish I had made that phone call."

Nene recently expressed on Twitter just how much the whole incident still pains her today. "YOU [DON'T] UNDERSTAND HOW THIS BROKE ME! I will NEVER be ok! NEVER!" she tweeted. "I’m broken! My sisterhood was real REAL!"

Nene and Cynthia will have lots more to discuss at the RHOA Season 11 reunion kicking off Sunday at 8/7c. Watch a preview of the drama to come, below.
