We Have a Major Update About the New Bravo Series Dirty John
The new casting update isn't the only exciting part.
We're one step closer to seeing Bravo's new true crime anthology series Dirty John on your screen. Production has officially begun on the upcoming scripted anthology series in the Greater Los Angeles area and on the Universal Studios lot, the network announced Tuesday.
Based on The Los Angeles Times articles and hit podcast of the same name, Dirty John tells the true story of how Debra Newell's romance with the irresistible John Meehan turned into a dark tale of deceit, manipulation, and survival for her whole family. Season 1 will follow that story, while Season 2 will be a different self-contained story, the details of which are to be announced at a later date.
Bravo also announced some additions to the already-star-studded cast on Tuesday, which includes: Kevin Zegers (Fear the Walking Dead) as Debra's nephew Toby; Keiko Agena (The First) as Debra's co-worker Nancy; John Karna (Scream: The TV Series) as Jimmy, Terra's boyfriend; Sprague Grayden (The Following) as John's first wife Tonia; and Cliff Chamberlain (Altered Carbon) as Ethan, John's best man from his first marriage.
They join the previously announced cast of Connie Britton as Debra Newell, Eric Bana as John Meehan, Jean Smart as Debra's mother Arlane Hart, and Julia Garner and Juno Temple as Debra's daughters Terra and Veronica, respectively.
And that's not the only exciting news about Dirty John. Golden Globe Award winner Jeffrey Reiner (The Affair, Friday Night Lights) is set to direct the first four episodes of the series and will also serve as an executive producer.
Dirty John is set to premiere on Bravo later this year.
