Is Dr. Nicole Martin in Contact with Her Late Father's Girlfriend?
The RHOM mom also revealed she's taken steps to connect with the half-siblings she recently learned about.
Dr. Nicole Martin is opening up about her family’s recent loss.
It was about two months ago when The Real Housewives of Miami mom announced the death of her previously estranged father, Miguel Alberto Martin — a Cuban immigrant who was introduced to viewers in RHOM Season 4.
“I haven’t been able to find the words and still can’t,” she captioned a November 19 tribute. “Everything happened so fast and it still doesn’t seem real. Part of me is still waiting for one of your crazy phone calls. So many things left unsaid and moments we didn’t share. Trying not to dwell on the missed moments and focusing on the improvements we made. You had a zest for life and I know you’re having a party up in heaven. Rest in peace dad. Love you.”
Nicole Martin on mending her relationship with her dad
Nicole touched on her father’s death in the January 17 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, saying she was grateful that their relationship had improved over the past couple of years.
“I really do think that we were in the best place we could’ve possibly been," Nicole told host Andy Cohen. “It was still a tragedy and very unexpected but I’m very thankful for the opportunity that we had to kind of mend things before he passed.”
Nicole Martin confirms she met her dad's girlfriend
Nicole also told Andy she finally agreed to meet her father’s girlfriend after initially refusing to do so. She spoke about the moment, which occurred months before Miguel's death, in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, saying it underscored all the progress she and her father had made.
“[It] was a huge deal for me, but it was really important for him,” she said about meeting Miguel’s girlfriend. “So, I feel like I extended that olive branch and I was able to meet her. They even came to our finale party, so I feel like we were in a very good place. So, I’m at peace with that.”
Nicole was later asked if she had maintained any sort of relationship with her late father’s girlfriend.
“Not really. I mean, we spoke very briefly after he passed,” she told Us Weekly. “The conversation didn’t exactly go the way I had hoped. That being said, my dad’s last memory is that I was able to meet her because it was important to him, so that’s what really matters.”
Nicole Martin reveals if she's connected with her half-siblings
Miguel shed more light on his relationship in the December 20 episode of RHOM, when he informed Nicole that he and his girlfriend were planning to have twins. However, that wasn’t the only bombshell he dropped.
As the conversation continued, Miguel revealed he had fathered a total of six children unbeknownst to Nicole. The Miami 'Wife immediately pressed for clarification, as she long believed she was one of four children. Miguel told his daughter she had two additional half-siblings, but he was hesitant to share the news because he feared her reaction.
The mother of one, who is expecting baby No. 2 this year, said she has yet to connect with her two younger siblings but has taken steps to locate them.
“So, I did, like, a genetic testing, one of those 23andMe, and nothing came up,” Nicole told the outlet. “The thing with those tests is that it depends on who’s on the database. So, if these are young children that are like seven, they’re not going to be in the database, but at least now my information’s on there. So, when they get older, if they ever decide to do it, we’ll be a match.”
