How Do You Throw a Party Worthy of Patricia Altschul?
Allow the #SouthernCharm matriarch to explain.
Ain't no party like a Patricia Altschul party because a Patricia Altschul party is always... sophisticated. So if you've ever wondered how you, too, might celebrate like the Southern Charm grande dame, she recently welcomed Vogue into her lavish home to reveal her personal do's and don'ts. "For some reason, I seem to be the poster child for all things cocktails and southern," she says, before dishing out the perfect wadrobe for any kind of fete.
"What I do when I entertain at home is that I love to wear caftans. They're comfortable. It's like wearing your nightgown," she said, before revealing some of the things ladies typically get wrong. "The one thing that women do that I think is a big mistake when they're going to cocktail parties is that they take big bags and it looks like you're coming to spend the night...little clutches are ideal."
It's also ideal to have a perfectly stocked bar with all the right ingredients at your disposal, including ice, glassware, mixers, fresh lemons/limes, and swizzle sticks. "So being southern, which equals hospitality, there are several bars on this floor," she said of her own home, complete with several proper places to grab a drink.
