If Patricia Altschul were a Housewife, her tagline would be, "Opulence. I own everything."
The scene-stealing mother of Southern Charm star Whitney Sudler-Smith is a break-out star inspiring the envy of fans who love her quick wit and uber glam style. Even Bravo fan Lady Gaga tweeted a shoutout to Patricia this season, saying that watching Patricia was "like lookin' in the damn mirror," adding, "cheers queen."
But despite being unapologetically luxe, this season there was one high ticket purchase she felt the need to justify. "Now about that bubble gum pink alligator, one-of-a-kind Birkin bag," Patricia wrote on her blog. "It was bought strictly as an investment, because Birkin bags are actually bought and traded as commodities."
She wasn't kidding. A seemingly identical version of Patricia's bag just sold for more than what homes are going for in parts of the country—an insane $222,912! The bag, part of a large luxury handbag event, sold at Christie's Hong Kong auction house.
The almost-quarter-million-dollar bag is made of pink crocodile skin and features 18K white gold hardware covered in diamonds.
"I have never worn nor carried it anywhere," Patricia said of her pink Birkin. "In fact, it sits, unsullied and pristine, in its original box waiting to be sold for a nice profit."
