Phaedra Parks Opens Up About Raising Sons Ayden and Dylan on Her Own
The #RHOA mom reveals how her sons are coping with their father Apollo Nida's absence.
Being a single parent is never easy, but becoming one under the circumstances in which The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Phaedra Parks became a single mom is especially difficult. Phaedra had no choice but to raise sons Ayden Nida and Dylan Nida on her own when her estranged husband Apollo Nida was sentenced to eight years in prison for bank fraud and identity theft. “It was sort of abrupt," Phaedra told The Daily Dish about helping her sons transition into life without their father at home. "It’s nothing you can ever effectively plan for because you don’t know what a child will require when something like that happens."
However, Phaedra has taken measures to ensure that her children remain as happy and healthy as possible during this difficult time. "Like any other parent, I decided that I would send them to therapy," Phaedra said. "When Apollo left, [Dylan] was only one year old right after his first birthday, so he didn’t have the actual connection that Ayden had because obviously Ayden is five now, so he was very aware of what was going on."
Luckily, Ayden and Dylan seem to be doing as well in this situation as one can hope. "They’re doing fine," Phaedra shared. "It’s been a process, but they’re doing fine.”
No one can doubt Phaedra's love for her children, especially after Sunday night's upcoming episode of RHOA. Check out this sneak peek in the clip, below, and have your tissues handy.
