La Fenice (La Jolla, CA)
Home to beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss, this Venetian-style villa is a historical landmark, and a literary treasure. Built in 1902, the 10,000-square-foot home sits on half an acre, and boasts five court yards, a movie theatre, and $3 million of antiques. The kitchen of this six-bed, ten-bath home boasts hand-painted Italian tiles. And if you don’t feel like swimming in the property’s $500,000 pool, the beach is just four blocks away. This house is currently on the market for $12.95 million.
Hemlock (Roxbury, CT)
Located two hours outside of Manhattan, this 3,300-square-foot property was once home to Dustin Hoffman and Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell. The entryway is a rotunda foyer with a glass brick ceiling. If you like to sunbathe, just head to the 24-foot glass cube living room, which boasts 65 windows. Or, you can head to the dining area, which has an additional 30. The master bath of this three-bed, 4.5-bath home features a 12-foot-tall skylight shower. All this luxury can be yours for $4.4 million.
Artemisia (Los Feliz, CA)
This former hunting lodge is one of the largest craftsmen residences in the United States. The 13,290-square-foot estate has been renovated over the past 25 years and includes a 2000-square-foot ball room that houses the second-largest residential pipe organ in the country. Don’t know how to play the organ? No worries—this organ plays itself. The seven-bed, seven-bath home sits on 2 acres, and if you live here, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie could be your neighbors. The home is valued at $9.995 million.
