The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Cynthia Bailey is sharing an update on her mom, Barbara Morris, shortly after she confirmed her mom’s breast cancer diagnosis. Barbara went in for surgery this week and it was “successful,” according to the RHOA alum, who is feeling a lot of love from those who are close to her and in her extended circle as she shares what’s next for her mom.

“[I] woke up this morning feeling blessed, happy, and grateful to share with all [of] you that my mother[’s] surgery was successful yesterday. We did have some issues with her blood pressure being too high at the beginning [and] at the end of the surgery, but by the grace of God, her doctor [and] her amazing team at [Emory Hospital] were able to get everything under control. Thank you all again for all the social media love, phone calls, text, and most importantly the prayers,” she wrote on Instagram. “I apologize to anyone that reached out [and] did not get a timely response from me. It was a very early [and] very long day and my priority was to keep my mother mentally [and] emotionally comfortable.”

She noted following the surgery, “My mom is here with me at Lake Bailey resting and recovering. She took care of me my whole life and now it’s my turn to take care of her. You only get one mother, cherish them.”

Cynthia’s daughter, Noelle Robinson, popped into her mom’s comments section to send her grandma four heart emojis.

Cynthia’s husband, Mike Hill, opened up about his mother-in-law’s diagnosis, sharing how their family is handling it all. “I’m just so grateful that they found it early. Cynthia’s mom is so good about going to the doctor,” Mike told Page Six this week before his mother-in-law went in for surgery, noting that “everything is going to be all right. I believe that.” He added, “Cynthia and her mom have been so strong throughout all of this, and I couldn’t be more proud of them both.”

Cynthia’s family was also feeling love and support from across the extended Bravo family with Garcelle Beauvais, Chanel Ayan, Karen Huger, Todd Tucker, Vicki Gunvalson, Eboni K. Williams, Margaret Josephs, Gizelle Bryant, Larsa Pippen, Porsha Williams, Marlo Hampton, Melissa Gorga, Candiace Dillard Bassett, and more Bravolebs all commenting about her mom’s updates.

The Daily Dish recently spoke with Cynthia about what’s next for her mom following the cancer diagnosis, which she called “a wakeup call.” She revealed that her mom wouldn’t have to undergo chemotherapy and would have radiation treatment after her surgery, and then “we should be good after that.”

“The bottom line is we caught it early,” Cynthia said. She added, “I will say, mentally, it kinda took a toll on her because she’s older and she has some other health issues, and it was just like I had to make that decision to get on the plane and just come to Atlanta and be here for her… I’ll be here until we get to the other side of this whole thing and I know that she’s good.”

Cynthia added that all the fan support on Instagram has definitely cheered her mom up: “It really has lifted her spirits.” Now, the plan is for her mom to eventually spend time with her on the West Coast. “She’s gonna be coming back with me to L.A. to visit for a couple months after everything’s done,” Cynthia said.
