What Kyle Richards Learned from the Kathy Hilton and Lisa Rinna Tension This Season
The RHOBH cast member reflected on the drama stemming from the ill-fated Aspen trip.
Kyle Richards is weighing in on the still-simmering tension between Kathy Hilton and Lisa Rinna, much of which can be traced back to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ now-infamous Aspen trip and the pair’s subsequent sit-down at Kyle’s house.
Asked by Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live why she was so “quiet” during that conversation, Kyle admitted she “was trying not to cry.”
“I was extremely nervous,” she continued. “My anxiety, which I’ve struggled with very badly for many years, was really at an all-time high at that moment and I knew that whatever I said was going to create a bigger problem for me, so I really couldn’t speak.”
Kyle even compared the sit-down to the confrontation between her other sister, Kim Richards, and Lisa when they were in Amsterdam, adding, “Sometimes I don’t do well in those situations, like when I ran out in Amsterdam, I wanted to run out of my own house.”
She also attributed the fact that she didn’t speak up when Lisa said Kathy had “a black heart” — whereas she had a strong reaction when Sutton Stracke previously called Diana Jenkins “soulless” — to her nervousness (and sobriety).
“I had 423 margaritas at Garcelle [Beauvais]’s birthday party, so that’s why I reacted that way,” Kyle said, also pointing out that she “didn’t see” Kathy allegedly talk badly about her, as Lisa has claimed. “I really couldn’t speak. I was hurt, I was angry, I was just wanting the ground to open up and take me away.”
The drama between Lisa and Kathy didn’t end after their sit-down though. Asked by Andy for her thoughts on Lisa’s social media comments about Kathy, Kyle explained that she has addressed the matter with Lisa before. “We’ve talked about that,” she said, “because every time something like that happens between the two of them, it affects my relationship with my sister.”
Did talking about it help? “I don’t know,” Kyle responded when Andy asked. “I just saw something again recently, so I guess not.”
