Kyle Richards Reflects on Her Dynamic with Kathy Hilton at the RHOBH Reunion

Here’s how Kyle feels about the RHOBH Season 12 reunion today.

By Jocelyn Vena

Kyle Richards is still feeling the emotional turmoil from Season 12 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and she recently opened up about the Season 12 reunion like never before. When she appeared on the Two Ts in a Pod podcast, Kyle noted that although she hasn’t watched all the Season 12 episodes, including a bulk of the reunion episodes, because of “anxiety,” she “did see Reunion [Part] 3.”

Later in the episode, Kyle shared why she was mostly quiet amid the drama with Kathy Hilton during the Season 12 reunion.

“When you are hurt by somebody, it’s not always so cut and dry. I’m not subscribing to the idea that you stick with family no matter what, because sometimes when you’re treated really poorly, you have to take a step back regardless of whether it’s blood or not, and you have to have boundaries,” Kyle said during the podcast episode. “If you don’t know the whole story, you can’t know why I wasn’t jumping in and not defending.”

She continued, “It’s not ‘No matter with blood you get to treat me however you want because we’re blood, and I’m gonna have to take it because we’re blood, and I’m gonna stick by you no matter what cuz we’re blood.’ If you’re mistreated, you’re mistreated, and that’s how I feel. And I was just at that point, really, really upset and hearing the things I was hearing and obviously defensive of my family, meaning my husband and my children. And I just didn’t want to.”

Kyle noted that sometimes speaking up amid any family drama can “make it worse,” so she sometimes chooses to be quiet during those tense moments.

And while the reunion was emotional for Kyle (she even noted that she felt “checked out” during parts of it), one moment really stuck with her. “I have to say, at the reunion, at the end, I felt really strained,” she said. “When Andy hugged me [at the end], it actually really meant a lot to me… I really appreciated that.”

In the end, she noted that she has nothing but “love” for her loved ones. “I love my family no matter what. My sisters, my sisters and kids and their kids. And I just hope that doesn’t get lost in all that. Even if I can get upset or be hurt, I love my family.”
