'RHOC' POLL: Are the 'Wives Right About Gretchen's Proposal?
The OC stars claim Gretchen's proposal to Slade Smiley was for the cameras.
On Part Two of the Real Housewives of Orange County reunion, Gretchen Rossi was really feeling the heat: Heather Dubrow continued her beef over Malibu Country (was Gretchen honest about getting offered a role?) and Tamra Barney brought up the wedding dress shopping debacle (did Gretchen really need to wear her old engagement ring?) But nothing was more upsetting to Gretchen than the 'Wives accusing her of staging an elaborate proposal to Slade Smiley all for the cameras.
A year after Gretchen expressed her doubts over settling down with Slade, the girls found Gretchen's proposal, complete with an original song and helicopter ride, a little questionable. "I don't know if she does or doesn't [want to marry Slade,]" Vicki Gunvalson said. "I just think the whole elaborate engagement was done for TV." Heather agreed that the scene in question seemed phony. "I watch it, and I felt hollow."
Of course, Gretchen insists the proposal was the real deal. "You know what? I'm excited I'm at this point," she said. "And I would hope that you guys would be happy for me too and not question that."
What do you think? Was it for the cameras? Or was Gretchen sincere in how she proposed to Slade? Sound off in our poll.
