Ashlee Holmes Malleo Confirms She and Pete Malleo Are Officially Divorced
“I wholeheartedly tried everything,” the RHONJ daughter said, opening up about the end of her marriage.
Ashlee Holmes Malleo has confirmed that she and Pete Malleo are officially divorced. Ashlee, who is the daughter of The Real Housewives of New Jersey alum Jacqueline Laurita, shared the news on Instagram, where she addressed the end of her marriage and opened up about her 5-year-old son, Cameron Hendrix Malleo, whom she and Pete welcomed in August 2016.
“My little love. I am so grateful for him. He is my reason to keep going always,” Ashlee wrote in the caption of her May 8 post, which featured a montage of the proud mom and Pete sharing sweet moments with their son. She went on to add about her little boy, “He is my reason for constantly wanting to heal myself and grow. Not only this year, but every year since the moment I saw him on the monitor at the doctor’s office. He motivates me to be better. Always. Whenever I find myself getting eaten up by the darkness that’s around me, I look to him. And I reset. He is my everything.”
Ashlee then shared how she felt following the finalization of her divorce a month ago, writing, “This is going to be my first Mother’s Day as a single mom. My divorce was finalized last month while I was away visiting my family. At this time, I don’t care to say much more about it. All I can say for now is that I wholeheartedly tried everything. I don’t necessarily believe that everything happens for a reason, but I believe that everything that happens to us gives us the chance to become a stronger [and] better version of ourselves if we let life guide us that way.”
The RHONJ daughter continued to express her feelings on the matter in the lengthy caption, adding that she was “grateful” for her relationship with Pete because of the son they shared together, writing, "Regardless of what happens in the future, Cameron came from this chapter. For that, I will be forever grateful.”
Ashlee concluded her post by revealing her gratitude for Cameron in a message for Pete, writing, “At the end of the day, as long as Cam is healthy, happy, loved, and safe — nothing else matters. And I would gladly ride this rollercoaster forever for this boy. Pete, thank you for helping me make Cam. Happy Mother’s Day.”
Jacqueline showed love to her daughter in the comments of the post, writing, “This is beautiful,” to which Ashlee replied, “One of the OG single moms in my life. Love ya Mama! Happy Mother’s Day!”
Ashlee and Pete became engaged in 2016 after about a year of dating, and they welcomed Cameron later that year. Nearly two years later, Ashlee and Pete were married at the city clerk’s office in Manhattan in August 2018.
In July 2020, Ashlee revealed on Instagram that she and Pete had decided to separate. “I’ve been trying to find the right words to share this news,” Ashlee said of her separation at the time. “It’s something that has been weighing pretty heavy on my heart, and I feel that it’s best for my healing process to just put it out there.” Last year, she confirmed that the pair were moving forward with a divorce and revealed how she felt about her relationship with Pete during the "emotional rollercoaster" of their split.
"Regardless of the emotional rollercoaster that is a divorce journey, Pete and I will ALWAYS be partners in life," she wrote in the caption of her November 11 Instagram post, which has since been removed. Ashlee had also added, "We share a gorgeous son together. I will always support Pete and cheer him on. His success is our son's success. We will ALWAYS be a family. We will ALWAYS be there for each other. Nothing and no one could ever break that. Period."
