"Erin Has A Double Standard When It Comes To Me": Brynn And Erin's Sag Harbor Lunch Fight, Explained

"I'm held to this unrealistic, absurd standard, crucified, burned at the stake," The Real Housewives Of New York City's Brynn Whitfield said about her argument with Erin Lichy.

By Caitlin Schunn

The drama started over cheese and an unnamed restaurant in The Real Housewives of New York City’s Season 14 premiere, and that beef wasn’t squashed for long, as it continued between housewives Brynn Whitfield and Erin Lichy all the way to the Hamptons in the third episode of the season.

Brynn and Erin got into it while out at lunch with Jenna Lyons, Sai de Silva, Ubah Hassan and Jessel Taank, and the fight left some of the housewives more than a little baffled.

“It’ll be easier for me to figure out Quantum physics than to understand what kind of point Brynn is making,” Sai said of her reaction in a confessional.

What Led Up To Brynn And Erin's Clash?

The fight actually dates back to the previous night of the Hamptons trip, when Jenna decided to leave Erin’s Sag Harbor home around 10:30 p.m., and go to her own Hamptons home, as the ‘Wives were up dancing (minus Brynn, who hadn’t joined the trip yet).

“I’ve got a 6:30 call,” Jenna said by way of explanation. “I’ll go sleep and you guys can play.”

The other housewives were not happy with that decision. The next morning, Ubah said she was “really, actually very upset,” and Erin declared she was giving Brynn Jenna’s room when she arrived.

“Like she doesn’t even deserve a room, she didn’t say bye,” Erin said.

Jenna returned to Erin’s home with coffee for the ‘Wives the following morning, at which point Ubah promptly declared Jenna “killed the party” with her departure.

As the women questioned Jenna’s reasoning, Jenna — who previously admitted to being anxious about the trip — repeated that she had an early call.

“Let’s back it up for one second,” Jenna said. “Can we just have a moment of remembering? You guys were partying. I went up to my room. The music is literally on top of my bed. I did not think you’d even notice, I figured I’d come back early.”

But the other ladies weren’t having it.

“Here’s the thing, it’s nice to wake up with the girls here,” Ubah said. “Just because you have a house ten minutes doesn’t mean that [you can leave].”

Jenna maintained it had nothing to do with staying over at someone else’s house, and that she left for an early call and so she wouldn’t disturb everyone else. Just when it seemed as though the arguing was over, it picked back up again post-workout between Jenna and Erin.

“Next time be like, ‘Guys, turn it down,’” Erin said to Jenna. “I didn’t want you to leave.”

Erin admitted even though it’s her house, she wanted her guests, including Jenna to be comfortable.

“I get it, I’m sorry you were offended,” Jenna said. “I literally did not want to bother you — it was not my intention. I apologize.”

Fences appeared to be mended between Jenna and Erin. But Brynn, who arrived that morning, wasn’t willing to let it go. Upset over Erin’s attitude towards her, after she and Sai ditched Erin’s group dinner at an unnamed restaurant to eat at a trendier restaurant, Brynn declared Erin had a “double standard” for her.

“I got my ass chewed out for choosing a place over people,” Brynn said to Ubah. “I was told that I’m not being a good friend…so that is the law of the land. It’s gotta apply to everybody.”

Brynn Confronts Erin Over Lunch

Brynn finally confronted Erin over what she felt to be unfair treatment as the ‘Wives sat around a table at Page at 63 Main in Sag Harbor.

“You’re more offended by someone not going to one dinner reservation than about someone leaving your house after you made them monogram pajamas,” Brynn said to Erin, to which the real estate mogul replied, “Well, maybe I like her a little bit more.”

Brynn insisted there was a double standard, but Erin disagreed.

“I was annoyed with her, and I didn’t think it was nice that she left and didn’t say goodbye, and we said it,” Erin said. “She apologized. We moved on. What else could I have done? Do you want me to throw something at her?”

Erin later added, “Within a couple hours she came up to me and said, ‘I’m sorry I left, this is why’ and you didn’t speak to me for weeks.”

But Brynn wasn’t finished yet. “You’re talking about the equivalent of I stepped on your dog’s paw versus shooting your dog,” she replied to Erin, confusing everyone at the table.

“That doesn’t even make sense,” Ubah said. “I can’t follow it. I’m watching a French movie right now.”

Despite the fiery words, Erin and Brynn appeared to have made up by later that day. But Erin recently said on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen there’s no end in sight for her fights with Brynn.

“We love each other, but we butt heads,” Erin said. “And it happens over and over again.”

Brynn also told The Daily Dish during the red carpet premiere party that the two have a fluctuating relationship.

“Erin and I, we’re like sisters,” Brynn said. “It ebbs and flows. We can’t stay mad at each other for long, but definitely get mad at each other a lot.”
